Give Congress some fatherly advice

Father’s Day usually marks the beginning of summer break for my children. With two young daughters, my wife and I are constantly trying to figure out activities, camps, play dates, etc. so they will have a well-rounded summer.

Fortunately, keeping my kids occupied this summer is my only worry. For many parents in this country, summertime means worrying about affording enough food to keep their children fed. Unfortunately, there will be millions of children who are more likely to go hungry this summer because school is out.

Call (800-826-3688) or email your members of Congress today and urge them to pass a bipartisan child nutrition bill that gives more hungry children access to nutritious meals, especially during the summer months.

Kids are more at risk of hunger during the summer. For every 6 low-income children who receive lunch during the school year, 5 lose access to meals during the summer. We can and must do more to close this summer hunger gap.

Stand with fathers and mothers across the country and remind Congress that hunger doesn’t take a vacation. Together, we can move Congress to ensure that children are fed through the summer months — and beyond.
