There is a difference between looking for something and seeing it. One implies a search and an expectation. The other implies recognition and appreciation. This is a conversation between Jesus and his disciple. While Jesus’ disciple nervously worries about preparing for the event of a Passover meal, Jesus communicates the calm declaration of what has already been done.
It is a waste of the Lenten season to fret about the world and our shortcomings. Lent is a time of awareness that freedom and salvation have already come. The arrangements have been made. In every step of our journey the Paschal Lamb walks beside us saying: “Go, behold, look, see, notice your place has been reserved and your invitation at the table is secure.” Cease asking, “Is it possible?” and know that it is inevitable. No one can deny your seat at the table. You will end up where you are supposed to be. There is more than just the plan of God. God also provides provision. Our anxieties about place, provision, and possibility are wholly challenged by Jesus who simply speaks to our inquiries with one word — go.
We need not ask, “Where?” It is here. We need not ask, “When?” It is now. Faith speaks to anxiety and says: Chill — God’s got this.
