Around the world, millions of mothers and children are benefiting from our government’s food and nutrition programs, especially the Feed the Future initiative. With 159 million children still suffering from chronic malnutrition, our global food-security programs continue to be critical to the health and well-being of mothers and children.

Tomorrow, the Senate Foreign Relations Committee will consider the Global Food Security Act (S. 1252). Contact your senator and urge your senator to support this bill.

This act would make the Feed the Future initiative permanent. It builds on gains in improving the lives of smallholder farmers, strengthening maternal and child nutrition, and building their capacity for long-term agricultural growth.

The Senate Foreign Relations Committee is negotiating this bill tomorrow. Now is the time to act for global food security and nutrition! Call (800-826-3688) or email your senator today. Urge your senator to support the Global Food Security Act (S.1252) during the committee mark-up.

Let Congress know that globally, one in every nine people still grapple with hunger daily. That is why U.S. leadership is vital in the fight against hunger, malnutrition, and extreme poverty. This legislation is a key next step to solving this problem.
