Now is the time

As part of the 2016 Offering of Letters, Bread for the World is urging Congress to increase funding for nutrition in our federal government’s global health programs to at least $230 million. The appropriations season — when the budget pie is divided up among all the federal programs — is now in full swing, so now is the time to act on global nutrition funding.

Call (800/826-3688) or email your representative today. Urge them to sign a bipartisan letter asking for robust funding for global maternal and child nutrition.

Several representatives have written this bipartisan Maternal and Child Health (MCH) and Nutrition letter to members of the House Appropriations Committee. This letter supports robust funding for life-saving programs for women and children globally in fiscal year 2017. It is open to signatures from all members in the House of Representatives until March 16, when it will be sent to House appropriators.

We need your representative’s name on this letter! A strong demonstration of bipartisan support for global nutrition funding will help us in our efforts to increase global nutrition funding in the coming year.

Global nutrition funding is critical to saving lives. Nearly half of all children under the age of 5 die because of malnutrition. As a global leader on nutrition, the U.S. must continue to demonstrate strong support through increasing funds for life-saving programs.

Call or email you representative. Tell them to support global nutrition funding and sign the Maternal and Child Health and Nutrition letter.
