Bio:
David Austin has spent the last 30 years working with mission-driven organizations in the relief and development sectors.
In the private sector, he helped launch an international environmental timber investment management organization. He worked closely with Ambassador Tony Hall at the State Department first on food security, and then on a high-level peace initiative in the Middle East. Austin’s work in humanitarian assistance has spanned from North Korea to Africa, with a long-standing connection to young people in Nepal. He recently completed six years as Director of Strategic Partnership for the World Food Programme.
In his role as the current Board Chair for the Children’s Literacy project, Austin is working on disrupting generational poverty in America through literacy intervention in church-school partnerships.
Austin holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Washington, an MBA from St. John’s College, and a master’s degree from the University of Portland. Austin, his wife, and their five school-age children enjoy their lives in Oregon with a strong community of friends. Portland, Oregon.
