Bio:
Ms. Faustine Wabwire is a global development expert with over 18 years of experience shaping international policies and programs in agriculture, food and nutrition security, climate change, global health, social protection and institutional capacity. She is known for her strategic leadership and voice in both U.S. and global policy fora, including through testifying before the U.S. Congress and contributing to initiatives for U.S. agencies such as USAID’s Advisory Committee on Voluntary Foreign Aid (ACVFA).
Wabwire served as a Senior Program Officer for Global Policy and Advocacy at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation where she managed a multi-country policy and finance body of work aimed at strengthening country and regional systems to accelerate economic transformation. As Senior Manager at Management Sciences for Health, she led policy and advocacy work contributing to Congressional reauthorization of the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR). Wabwire has also worked as Senior Foreign Assistance Policy Advisor at Bread for the World, Adjunct Faculty at Eastern University’s International Development Program, and as a visiting lecturer at Georgetown University’s Department of Government.
Wabwire has served as Parish Council member at St. Augustine, the oldest Black Catholic Parish in Washington, D.C. Her board memberships include Bread for the World, Africa Faith & Justice Network, and Women for Women International. She also serves on the Advisory Board of ADAPTED—a European-Africa Joint Doctorate Program—as part of her commitment to mentoring the next generation of leaders. Her academic background includes an M.A. in Development Management (Germany), an M.A. in Development Studies (South Africa), an M.A. in Inter-cultural Service, Leadership and Management (USA), and B.A. in Social Sciences (Kenya). She is fluent in Kiswahili and English and speaks some French. She is Roman Catholic.
